Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

As Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Henry Tang’s principal responsibility is to assist the Chief Executive in matters of policy formulation and implementation in the financial, monetary, economic, trade and employment areas.  He is also responsible for preparing and presenting the Government Budget and exercises control of the Exchange Fund with the assistance of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.  He is also a member of the Executive Council, the highest policy-making body in Hong Kong.

Before becoming Financial Secretary, Mr Tang was the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology.

Prior to joining the Government, Mr Tang was a leading industrialist in Hong Kong.   He received the Young Industrialist Awards of Hong Kong in 1989 and was elected as a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in 1993.

The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra is traveling to Australia with Mr Tang.  An ensemble from the Orchestra will perform at the dinner.
