Beijing - Shanghai - Hong Kong

The Forum is being organised in conjunction with Austcham Beijing, Austcham Shanghai and Austcham Hong Kong. It is a unique event that includes visits to all three major centres of Chinese business:
Monday 23 October 2006 - Beijing
Wednesday 25 October 2006 - Shanghai
Thursday 26 & Friday 27 October 2006 - Hong Kong
The theme for the Forum is;
Converging Interests: China and Australia Building for the Future
As Premier Wen Jiabao stated during his speech at Parliament House in Canberra in April, China and Australia "enjoy extensive converging interests". Our two nations have economic strengths that complement each other. Amongst many actions being taken to capitalise on that complementarity and converging interests, both governments have committed themselves to accelerating their discussions on a Free Trade Agreement.
The Australia China Business Forum will bring together a wide range of prominent experts from government and business to share their experiences on the immediate opportunities presented by the China-Australia relationship and will share their thoughts
on the future direction of that relationship.
The Forum program will include extensive coverage of key topics relevant for Australian business, including:
• In-depth focus on industry sectors such as tourism, investments, mining and resources, human resources, IT, education and training, health, financial services, property and construction, film, food and wine, and logistics;
• Useful information on China market entry strategies, including municipal governments, Foreign Trade Zones, and important factors for SMEs to consider;
• A range of special interest topics including the Beijing 2008 Olympics, Shanghai World Expo 2010, and Australian women in China - success stories.
Participation in the Forum will also include entry to the Austcham Australia-China Business Awards in Hong Kong on Thursday 26 October, a gala event that is not to be missed.
