Melbourne: Australia China Renewable Energy Forum

25 October 2019

Theatrette, Level 5, 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne

ACBC Victoria, warmly invites you to attend our Australia China Renewable Energy Forum – The Future of Investment, Collaboration and New Technologies

Renewable energy is a key driver for a sustainable global future and is currently the fastest-growing energy source in the world. Following the pivotal Paris Agreement signed in 2016, Governments across the globe have set ambitious clean energy targets.
China’s 13th five-year plan set out key objectives including an increased share of non-fossil energy consumption to 15% by 2020 and to 20% by 2030. China has also become a leader in renewable energy investment worldwide for the seventh successive year. In 2018 China contributed almost a third of the global renewable’s investment at $130.2 billion (AUD).
Both Australia and the State of Victoria have benefited significantly from Chinese capital investment into major projects in recent years. In 2015, one of China’s largest power generators, State Power Investment Corp (SPIC), purchased Pacific Hydro for $2.5 billion. This led to the development of a number of wind farms, solar farms and hydro plants across the country.

There will be a range of topics discussed at this event, from challenges to Chinese investment into Australian renewable energy, emerging Chinese technologies and the current regulatory and policy climate in Victoria. There will also be case studies from Chinese owned and invested companies.

You will hear from speakers and panellist including:

  • The Hon Lily D'Ambrosio MP, Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change
  • Chris Barrett, Chief Executive Officer, Invest Victoria
  • Leonard Quong, Head of Australian Research, Bloomberg New Energy Finance
  • Maja Barnett, Executive Manager, New Business and Technologies, Pacific Hydro Australia
