ACBC NSW is delighted to host Andrew Robb, for an exclusive event to hear his observations about the trade and investment opportunities for the health sector in China. The event will also include Andrew Robb in conversation with Tim Regan, Chair, ACBC Health and Aged Care Sub-Committee, followed by Q&A with the audience. The event will be followed by an informal networking session.

Keynote Speaker Bio - The Hon Andrew Robb AO

Until his recent retirement from politics, Andrew Robb was Australia’s Minister for Trade and Investment. In this role, Mr Robb negotiated Free Trade Agreements with South Korea, Japan and China, as well as the 12 country Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade agreement and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Singapore. Additionally, he conducted 85 investment roundtables with 28 countries. Mr Robb is currently Executive Chairman of The Robb Group, a Board Member of the Kidman cattle enterprise, Chair of Asialink, Asialink Business and CNSDose, Strategy Committee Chair of the Black Dog Institute and strategic and investment advisor to Seafarms Group and a range of other national and international businesses.

Mr Robb’s commercial experience in the 2 years since leaving politics has focused on healthcare, food and agribusiness, resources and energy sectors, including designing and leading a USD80 Billion-dollar Health precinct in China, provide strategic advice to large Energy and Mining projects in the region, facilitating an Asian investor becoming a strategic partner in an Australian Biomedical company, negotiating a multi-billion dollar cross border live cattle deal and Geopolitical Advising to local and international businesses.

Mr Robb’s professional experience began as an animal health officer, before assuming a public policy role as an agricultural economist. Mr Robb then was appointed the Executive Director (CEO) of the Cattle Council of Australia, before his appointment as Executive Director (CEO) of Australia’s peak farmer organisation, the National Farmers’ Federation. Since that time, Mr Robb was General Secretary of the Liberal Party of Australia, including his role as campaign director of the 1996 federal election which brought former Prime Minister, Hon John Howard, into government with the biggest Liberal Party win in history.

Shortly after the 1996 federal election, Mr Robb moved to the private sector and over eight years was a member of the investment team for the Gorgon Gas Project, a Board Member of Sinclair Knight Mertz – Australia’s largest consulting engineering company, as well as CEO at Acxiom – an Australia-wide direct marketing technology company. In addition, Mr Robb provided strategic advice to Australia’s 39 university Vice Chancellors. Mr Robb stood for Parliament in 2004 and was elected to the Federal Seat of Goldstein until his move back into the private sector at the time of the recent 2016 election. As a Member of Parliament, Mr Robb held positions as Chairman of the Government’s Workplace Relations Taskforce, Assistant Minister to the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs and then Minister for Vocational and Further Education.

In Opposition, he held positions as Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Climate Change, Chairman of the Coalition Policy Development Committee and Shadow Minister for Finance, Deregulation and Debt Reduction. Following the Coalition victory at the 2013 election, Mr Robb was appointed to the Cabinet as Minister for Trade and Investment. In 2003, Mr Robb was awarded the office of the Order of Australia (AO) for his service to agriculture, politics and the community. As well, Mr Robb is the author of “Black Dog Daze: Public Life, Private Demons” (Melbourne University Publishing).
