Melbourne: The Future of AI & Big Data - China Taking the Lead

09 October 2018

International Chamber House, Level 5, 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne 3000

ACBC Victoria’s Future Leaders Forum (FLF) presents ‘The Future of AI & Big Data: China taking the lead’

From facial recognition to inventory management, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising the way organisations conduct business, implement strategy and engage with stakeholders. In an era of big data, AI-enabled technologies are quickly moving beyond R&D and are being implemented to produce tangible outcomes.

On the global stage, China is proving to be a dominant leader in the AI & Big Data race. At China’s 19th National Party Congress, implementation of the state’s big data strategy was identified as a national priority for social and economic prosperity. Innovation parks, incubators and accelerators have since been established in China, with some considered to be future global AI hubs.

Although AI & Big Data are at the forefront of global innovation, many questions remain around the impact that these technologies will have on our society and how we will work, live and protect our privacy rights.

At the event you’ll hear from speakers including:

  • Si Chen, Senior Strategy Manager, Tencent
  • Maria Silos, Director of Government Affairs, Australia and New Zealand, DiDi Chuxing
  • Professor Ming He, Professor of Ophthalmic Epidemiology, Melbourne University

The event will address:

  • What are Chinese AI/big data players doing differently to the rest of the world?
  • What are some ancillary skills/services Australian companies can develop to ride the AI/big data wave?
  • What are some of the practical challenges with AI / big data that the biggest players are trying to solve?
  • How can an audience member be a part of the AI / big data economy? What skills / experience do they need to develop now?
