ACBC Victoria is pleased to invite you to the next event in our SME Briefing Series exploring the skills, protocols and language issues you need to be aware of when negotiating with the Chinese, as well as how to avoid potential pitfalls. 

Our guest speakers are Ms Kate Ritchie, CEO and Mr Charles Qin, Managing Director and Chief Interpreter, Chin Communications. 

  • They will offer practical steps to those involved in or considering doing business with China regarding how to avoid communication problems with Chinese counterparts.  

The presentations will be followed by the opportunity for discussion and Q&A, as well as ample networking opportunities. 

About our speakers:

Kate Ritchie, CEO, Chin Communications
Kate is one of the founders of Chin Communications – way back in 1992 and celebrating 25 years in operation in 2017. Prior to this, Kate worked in China for a number of years and was prescient in identifying the importance language would play to Australia’s future. Chin Communications has grown from a provider of language and culture training services to a multi-discipline communications company with a client list from around Australia and the region and a fantastic team of talented experts. Chin Communications offers a wide range of services including Chinese translation, interpreting, business card production, design & layout, branding, copywriting, and multimedia development, together with cultural awareness support. Kate leads Chin in delivering outstanding language services to clients as their ‘trusted language partner’ and solving their communication problems. 

Charles Qin, Managing Director and Chief Interpreter, Chin Communications
Charles Qin co-founded Chin Communications in 1992. As Managing Director and & Chief Interpreter, Charles is responsible for driving the company’s growth while also focusing on developing the professional language skills of all team members. Charles is the only Australian/Chinese member of the prestigious AIIC (International Association of Conference Interpreters), is an Adjunct Industry Fellow at Monash University, and a visiting Professor at the Tianjin Foreign Studies University. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2016 for his contribution to international relations, particularly through interpreting and translation. He is one of the most sought-after English-Chinese interpreters in the region.
