Melbourne: Hiring in China and How to Avoid Potential Pitfalls

ACBC Victoria is pleased to invite you to a roundtable focusing on hiring in China and how to avoid potential pitfalls. 
Our first speaker is Mr Delain Gunewardena, Account Manager with FESCO Adecco Human Resource Services in China. Delain has nearly 10 years of recruitment and HR experience in both Australia and China. He will provide insight into:

  • The main types of hiring models
  • Recruitment 
  • Retention 
  • Termination

Our second speaker is Ms Jo Gao, President and Senior Partner at Chinainlaw Partners law firm in Shanghai. Her presentation will focus on Chinese labour contracts and security and will cover:

  • Formation of Labour Contracts
  • Working Hours, Rest and Vacations
  • Special Occupational Protection for Women
  • Wages and Social Insurance and Welfare
  • Termination of Labour Contract

Their presentations will be followed by an interactive Q&A session, as well as ample networking opportunities.

Mr Delain Gundewardena, Account Executive, International Sales Department, FESCO Adecco Human Resources Service Shanghai Co. Ltd.
Delain Gunewardena is Account Manager with FESCO Adecco Human Resource Services in China. With nearly 10 years of recruitment and HR experience in both Australia and China, Delain specializes in HR solutions for multinational companies and SMEs. Delain’s main focus is partnering with companies who are establishing or are already established in China, to develop their workforce in the China market. His understanding of both the Australian and Chinese market encompasses hiring, retention strategies, HR policies and cultural differences in the workplace.

Ms Jo Gao, President and Senior Partner, Chinainlaw Partners (Shanghai)
Jo Gao is the President and a Senior Partner of Chinainlaw Partners Law Firm. She was born in Shanghai, graduated from East China University of Political Science & Law in 2001, and then began to practice as a lawyer. She has provided legal and commercial services for many multinational corporations and foreign companies based on her professional expertise, her fluent English and acute insight. Chinainlaw specialises in transnational business to and from China. They are an internationally recognised law firm with connections around the globe.
