Internship Program

The Australia China Business Council is committed to supporting the professional development of young people with an interest in the Asia-Pacific region. We support the development of a population equipped with Asia literacy, fluency in Asian languages and knowledge about the region's commercial environments.
In cooperation with our Official Internship Partners at the Australia China Youth Association, we are pleased to offer a range of unpaid internship opportunities for work at our National Secretariat in Sydney.
Our internship opportunities include:
- Winter Internships conducted over a period of up to three working weeks
- Summer Internships conducted over a period of up to twelve working weeks
- Ongoing Internships conducted over a mutually convenient timeframe
Interns will have the opportunity to work on a selection of the following tasks:
- Preliminary research and writing on a variety of issues pertinent to the Council's interests and bilateral trade issues
- Liaison with a range of internal and external stakeholders across government and the private sector on behalf of the National Secretariat
- Website development and maintenance
- Design and development of marketing material aimed at increasing the Council's profile among its corporate partners and government stakeholders
- Monitoring the media for articles and news items relevant to the bilateral trade relationship
- Financial reporting and maintenance of basic accounting standards
- Various administrative tasks as required by the National Secretariat
Ideally, applicants should possess the following skills and experience:
- A good understanding of commercial issues in Sino-Australian relations
- A working knowledge of the non-profit sector
- Be working towards (or recently completed) a university degree in Asian Studies, International Studies, Arts, Law, Commerce, Finance, Marketing or Accounting
- Intermediate-advanced proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is desirable, but not essential
- Basic proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
