ACBC Emergency Appeal
	Dear Fellow ACBC Members, As you know, the devastating earthquake in Sichuan province has created enormous need for emergency humanitarian relief. The Chinese government is devoting substantial efforts and resources to assisting the stricken areas. However, as with any disaster of such widespread proportions, there is a role to be played by private organizations, as well. We believe it is appropriate for the Australian business community to be involved in providing assistance given our substantial links in China, and the ACBC should take a leadership role in this process. We will be working closely with DFAT and the Chinese Embassy to determine the most appropriate channel(s) through which any assistance can be directed. We are launching an appeal to ACBC members who would like to donate funds to earthquake relief. If you wish to make financial contributions to the relief effort, you are welcome to do so by depositing funds to the ACBC National Office bank account. Donations can be paid by electronic transfer to:   Account name: Australia China Business Council Bank: ANZ Bank BSB Number: 012 110 Account Number: 4949 06039 Or, alternatively, donations can be paid by cheque made payable to the Australia China Business Council, attention Sichuan Earthquake Relief and posted to the ACBC National Office, Level 11, 1 Macquarie Place, Sydney NSW 2000. We would ask that any direct bank transfers or cheques to ACBC for this purpose be designated for the earthquake relief fund. All such funds will be separately accounted for. All funds received will be donated to a responsible organization involved in providing assistance in the stricken areas. We will identify such an organization after consultation with DFAT and the Chinese Embassy. At this time, we all express our sympathy and support to our friends and colleagues in China who have been effected by this devastating earthquake.
