Australian leaders to attend Beijing Olympics

The Australian Prime Minister's Office announced today the Governor-General of Australia,
His Excellency Major General
Michael Jeffery, and the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, would be
attending the Beijing Olympic Games at the personal invitation of the President of China,

His Excellency Hu Jintao.

The Prime Minister would attend the Opening Ceremony, whilst the Governor-General would
be present at the Closing Ceremony.

The media release issued by the Prime Minister's Office said the Prime Minister would be
attending the Games to support the Australian Olympic Team, the largest ever to attend
an Olympic Games abroad.
